Transfer a Wireless Number Between AT&T Accounts (TOBR) AT&T ➜ AT&T
Transfer of Billing Responsibility (often called TOBR) is how you move a wireless number from one AT&T account owner to another while keeping the line on AT&T.
Start here (official AT&T TOBR link):
https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/tobr/
Use this to start a transfer or accept one online.
People Search TOBR a Bunch of Different Ways
If you found this page by searching any of these, you’re in the right place: att tobr, at&t tobr, att/tobr, att.tobr, at&t.com/tobr, att/tobr.com. The correct official link is the one above.
When to Use TOBR
- Move a number from one AT&T business account to another AT&T business account.
- Move a number from a business account to a personal account (or vice-versa).
- Consolidate lines from multiple AT&T accounts into one account.
Before You Start
Account status
If the account is past due, TOBR usually won’t complete until the balance is current.
Authority
The initiator must be the account owner/authorized user. The acceptor must be eligible to own an AT&T account.
Installments & promos
Device installments and bill credits can be affected if plans/eligibility change. Review this during acceptance.
Plans & features
The receiving account selects plans/features during acceptance. Pricing may differ from the original account.
What You’ll Need
- Initiator (current account): AT&T login, the line(s) to transfer, and the acceptor’s email address.
- Acceptor (new account): AT&T login (or create one), business/personal details, billing method, and agreement to assume charges going forward.
How TOBR Works (Simple Version)
1) Initiator steps
- Go to att.com/acctmgmt/tobr and choose Start transfer.
- Sign in, select the line(s), and enter the acceptor’s email address.
- Submit. AT&T sends the acceptor a secure link to continue.
2) Acceptor steps
- Open the AT&T email/text and click Accept transfer.
- Sign in (or create an account), confirm the line(s), choose plan/features, and accept the terms.
- Finish acceptance. The line moves after both sides complete their steps.
Common Pitfalls
- Asking for a Number Transfer PIN: Not needed for TOBR. That PIN is for switching to another carrier.
- Canceling the line first: Don’t disconnect the line. Keep it active until TOBR is complete.
- Promo surprises: If the plan changes, promo credits can change or stop. Verify during acceptance.
- Past-due balances: Bring the account current before starting.
- Email mismatch: Use the correct acceptor email and make sure they can access it immediately.
Business clients: If you’re already working with me for new lines or upgrades, I can help you keep the TOBR clean so nothing gets missed.
If you’re not a current customer, use the official AT&T link above to complete the transfer online.
My clients only need to do the following: Simply copy and send the appropriate email shown below — one from the releasing party and one from the accepting party. Once both emails are received, I take care of the entire transfer process on your behalf with AT&T’s COE team.
