AT&T Business DataConnect and Business Connect Plans give businesses data-only options for tablets, laptops, routers, mobile hotspots, scanners, LTE cameras, monitoring devices, and other qualified business equipment.
These plans do not replace regular smartphone voice plans. Instead, they help a business connect a specific device that needs wireless data. However, the right plan depends on the device, the data use, and the job that device performs.
What Are AT&T Business DataConnect Plans?
AT&T Business DataConnect Plans give qualified tablets, laptops, and notebooks wireless data service. These plans work for data use only, so they should not go on a smartphone voice line.
DataConnect Unlimited for Business includes Standard, Premium, and Premium with Turbo for Business options. Therefore, it can fit different tablet and laptop users based on speed needs, data behavior, and whether the user needs the Turbo feature.

What Is Turbo for Business?
Turbo for Business gives the line 50GB of prioritized eligible business data on AT&T-owned domestic networks. As a result, it may improve the network experience for qualified business data during the first 50GB of use each bill cycle.
However, Turbo does not place that device ahead of all other network traffic. It also does not provide emergency-style priority access or preemption.
What Are AT&T Business Connect Plans?
AT&T Business Connect Plans give qualified data-only devices wireless data access. These devices can include routers, scanners, mobile hotspot devices, monitoring devices, and other qualified business equipment.
Business Connect has three main plan types: Telemetry, Capped, and Backup. Each plan type serves a different data need. Therefore, the device and use case matter before choosing a plan.
Business Connect Telemetry Plans
Choose Business Connect Telemetry for qualified machine-to-machine business devices with low data use. For example, a business may use this type of plan for certain monitoring or reporting equipment that sends small amounts of data.
| Telemetry Data Amount | Monthly Service Charge | Plan Type |
|---|---|---|
| 1MB | $5 | Pooled telemetry data |
| 5MB | $7 | Pooled telemetry data |
| 25MB | $10 | Pooled telemetry data |
| 50MB | $15 | Pooled telemetry data |
| 150MB | $18 | Pooled telemetry data |
Business Connect Capped Plan
The Business Connect Capped plan can fit qualified devices with variable data use that need internet access. It gives the business a low starting monthly cost in low-usage months. In addition, it gives overage protection during an occasional higher-usage month.
| Plan | Data Amount | Monthly Service Charge | Monthly Charge Cap | What to Know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Connect Capped | 20MB | $29.99 | $129.99 | This plan does not pool data. If the line hits the cap for 3 consecutive months, AT&T may move the line to the 5GB Business Connect Backup plan. |
Business Connect Backup Plans
Choose Business Connect Backup for qualified devices with higher data use that need internet access. These plans may fit backup connectivity, business routers, mobile hotspot devices, and other qualified data-only use cases.
Unlike the Capped plan, Backup plans pool data with other Backup lines on the same billing account. However, they do not share one pool with Telemetry lines.
| Backup Data Amount | Monthly Service Charge | 5G / 5G+ Device Use |
|---|---|---|
| 250MB | $20 | Do not use with 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 1GB | $25 | Do not use with 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 5GB | $50 | Do not use with 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 10GB | $80 | Works with compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 20GB | $150 | Works with compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 35GB | $245 | Works with compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 50GB | $325 | Works with compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 100GB | $500 | Works with compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
| 200GB | $950 | Works with compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices. |
Business Connect Backup plans of 10GB and higher can support compatible 5G or 5G+ capable devices where service exists. The 250MB, 1GB, and 5GB Backup plans do not fit 5G or 5G+ capable devices.
Business Connect Data Pool Rules
Business Connect Telemetry and Business Connect Backup use separate data pools. Telemetry lines pool with Telemetry lines. Backup lines pool with Backup lines.
DataConnect vs. Business Connect
DataConnect and Business Connect sound similar, but they solve different problems. So, the device type should drive the plan choice.
| Plan Family | Best Fit | Common Devices | Main Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| DataConnect Unlimited for Business | Unlimited data for eligible tablets, laptops, and notebooks | Tablets, laptops, notebooks | Offers Standard, Premium, and Premium with Turbo options. |
| Business Connect Telemetry | Low-data machine-to-machine business applications | Monitoring devices, scanners, low-data business equipment | Supports pooled low-data usage. Do not use it for routers, hotspots, or normal internet access. |
| Business Connect Capped | Variable low data use with a monthly charge cap | Qualified data-only devices that need internet access | Uses a 20MB plan with monthly service-related charges capped at $129.99. |
| Business Connect Backup | Higher data use and backup internet-style use cases | Routers, mobile hotspot devices, qualified data-only devices | Offers pooled backup data plans from 250MB to 200GB. |
Device Eligibility Matters
Use these plans only with qualified data-only devices. For DataConnect Unlimited for Business, do not use smartphones, voice-capable devices, or non-qualified data-only devices.
Business Connect also depends on the plan type. For example, a router may fit a Backup plan, but it should not go on a Telemetry plan. Likewise, a 5G-capable device needs a compatible Business Connect Backup plan of 10GB or higher.
Discounts and Contract Review
Important Discount Note
Some AT&T Business wireless plans can receive foundation account profile discounts or contract-level discounts. However, DataConnect Unlimited for Business plans do not receive additional discounts, including certain CRU service discounts described in the Business Agreement.
Also, Business Connect pricing and eligibility should be checked before quoting. The device type, term commitment, data need, and account setup can all affect the correct recommendation.
Before quoting or changing one of these data-only plans, contact me or work with me to review the device type, business account, contract terms, and available plan options. This helps prevent the wrong device from landing on the wrong plan.
When These Plans May Not Be the Best Fit
These plans may not fit if the business needs a smartphone voice plan, fixed wireless internet tied to a business address, fiber internet, or a larger wireless broadband solution.
For example, a business that needs primary internet for an office may need AT&T Business Fiber or Internet Air for Business instead. Also, a company that needs larger router-based wireless connectivity should compare Business Connect against AT&T Wireless Broadband before ordering.
