AT&T Warranty Device Exchange for Business Customers — 2025 Update

Learn how AT&T Business warranty claims now go through Asurion, what to expect during verification, and why business customers should double-check their preferred contact number before calling.

AT&T recently changed how warranty claims are handled for most business wireless devices. As of 2025, Asurion now processes manufacturer warranty claims for AT&T devices, including Samsung phones. This update means business customers will contact Asurion directly — even if they don’t have insurance.

Who Handles Your Warranty

  • Apple devices: Still handled directly by Apple. Visit Apple Support or call 1-800-MY-APPLE.
  • Samsung and other Android devices: Warranty replacements are now handled by Asurion.
  • Accessories, Cell Booster Pro, and Sonim devices: Follow the specialized support links or numbers on AT&T’s warranty reference list.

Asurion Warranty Support

If your phone is still under its one-year manufacturer warranty (and not physically or liquid damaged), contact Asurion’s Warranty Exchange:

When calling, choose the Warranty option — not Insurance — to start a claim for a manufacturer-covered defect.

Important: Verify Your Preferred Contact Number First

During a recent business warranty claim, I learned firsthand that Asurion uses your AT&T “Preferred Contact Number” for identity verification. This is the number their system tries to text a one-time verification code to — and they only show you the last four digits.

On my own AT&T Business account, I discovered that number wasn’t in my FAN profile or on the billing account — it was listed only in my MyAT&T online account settings. In my case, it was a Google Voice number, which Asurion’s system couldn’t text. Because of that, I had to be transferred to their Advanced Technical Support team and verify my account using my FAN PIN.

⚠️ Tip for business customers: Before you call Asurion, log in to your MyAT&T account and check your preferred contact number. If it’s a landline or Google Voice number, update it to a mobile number that can receive texts.

Real-World Experience: Warranty Frustration

Yesterday, I assisted a business customer trying to file a warranty claim for a Samsung phone. Asurion couldn’t verify her number, showing a completely unrelated number ending in 0001. After being transferred back and forth between AT&T and Asurion for over an hour, she gave up in frustration and decided to pay off the phone to upgrade instead.

In the end, I processed an upgrade for her from a Samsung S24 FE to a Samsung S25 Edge. By choosing a 24-month installment term, her trade-in credits completely offset the cost — giving her a new phone with no monthly installments. What to Expect When You Call Asurion

  • They will text a verification code to your preferred contact number.
  • If that number can’t receive texts (Google Voice, VoIP, or landline), you’ll be escalated to Advanced Tech Support.
  • You may be asked for your FAN PIN for verification.
  • Expect long hold times — especially for business warranty claims.
Bottom line: Double-check your contact info before calling, be patient, and keep your FAN PIN handy. If your business depends on staying connected, sometimes an early upgrade may save time and frustration.
